Creating a Great CV

Top tips on improving your CV!

  • Keep it to less than two pages of A4 (but make sure to fill the pages used - so either one full page, or two full pages). One page is preferred.

  • Include your contact details:

    • Email address

    • Phone number

    • Optional:

      • Home address

      • LinkedIn username (make sure it is customised to be something short)

  • Make sure to include the following categories:

    • Education

      • In reverse chronological order (most recent first).

      • Give predicted A Level (or equivalent) grades, list each subject and the associated grade.

      • Give a summary of GCSE (or equivalent) grades, eg. "5A*s, 4As, 2Bs including English (B) & Maths (A)".

    • Experience

      • Also in reverse chronological order.

      • Structure with bullet points - a maximum of 2 or 3.

      • Show off your skills with some practical context.

      • Discuss the impact of your work.

    • Skills

      • Technical skills.

      • 'Soft' skills.

      • Languages that you can speak.

    • Any relevant projects that you may have worked on

      • Could also include extra-curricular activities where you've made something.
