# UCAS Personal Statement Advice

Make sure you follow the advice here for your personal statement to really stand out!

* Make use of as much of the space as possible.
* Demonstrate how much you love the subject.
  * Don't use the word 'passionate' - its very overused!
  * Talk about things that you've done:
    * Books you've read.
    * Relevant work experience.
    * Relevant hobbies and interests.
* Talk about why you want to do the course.
  * Should also have a clear idea of what course it is that you want to study.
  * Don't tailor the personal statement to a specific university, all of the ones you apply to will see the same personal statement.
* Give a solid introduction and conclusion.
* If applying to Oxbridge universities, make sure to make your personal statement more academic.
* Avoid cliches and famous quotes - admissions tutors will have seen them all before, be unique!
