Interview Hints and Tips
Check out our tips for how to ace the university interview.
Lots of university courses don't require interviews, particularly STEM courses! Having said that, all Oxbridge courses require interviews, and some other top universities (such as UCL and Imperial College London) will also do interviews.
Preparing for a university interview:
Prepare for some common questions. Some of these include:
Why do you want to study the subject?
Why do you want to attend the university?
Re-read your personal statement, you could be asked about things that you've included.
It would also be worth asking your school/college to see the reference that they wrote for you, so you can prepare for questions that might be asked based on that.
Make sure you can actually attend.
Nothing can hurt your chances more than not turning up at all! If something means that you can no longer attend, make sure to let the admissions team know as soon as possible.
Bring any required documents.
Arrive early.
You'll be able to use the extra time to find the location.
Dress smartly.
You may have been given direction on what to wear by the university - so follow that.
It'll help you to make a good first impression.
Prepare some questions to ask the interviewer in advance.
This can help to show your engagement!
